TEXT SCORES (2020)
Written during Deep Listening Intensive I studies with the Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. During training, we worked with the modalities of Listening through Sound, Dreaming, and Movement pioneered by composer Pauline Oliveros, movement master Heloise Gold, and Dream Keeper IONE.
The Center for Deep Listening at Rensselaer stewards the practice of Deep Listening® pioneered by composer Pauline Oliveros, providing a unique approach to music, literature, art, meditation, technology, and healing. Oliveros describes the practice of Deep Listening as “a way of listening in every possible way to everything possible, to hear no matter what you are doing.”
BREATH OF LIFE (movement modality)
Close your eyes. Cup your hands over the mouth. Gather the warmth and energy from the breath in the hands.
When the hands feel full, brush them over the trunk and limbs, passing the warmth and energy into the body until the entire body feels activated.
Feel the energy of breath in the limbs. Allow the body to gently sway like a reed in the breeze. Experiment with a range of movements.
When you feel complete, gently bring the body back to rest.

CORNER TRACING (movement / listening modality)
Find a corner of a room.
Place the body in the corner, buttocks touching either side of the wall.
Breath.
As the rise and fall of the breath, let the hands feel the wall, rising and falling.
Feel for vibrations. Listen to the space, feel into the energies of the place and its histories.

DEEP SWIMMERS (dream modality)
Set the intention before sleep to be taken deeper.
Deeper to the places you have not ventured in dreams.
The internal corners of your mind that hold your highest growth.
To the places not yet explored.
When venturing to these places, ask for a guide or a guardian to walk with you.
What do they look like? Person? Animal? Do they have a form?
Ask that they keep you safe, as they take you to the deep places.
Know that you are protected.
Allow the journey to take place.
Know that what you are shown is a gift.
It is perfect and meant exactly for you.
With the energy of acceptance and gratitude, thank your helper.
Upon awakening, write down your journey.
Invite your helper to be with you in between dreams.
Make space for them and listen closely.
Sometimes their presence is a whisper.
